It was about 12:30 AM, and I... read more was waiting for the rain to stop long enough for me to get them out for their final run. It didn't seem like the rain would ever let up that night.

The rain was causing a loud dripping noise on the window sill just behind the sofa where I was sitting. I kept waiting for that to stop so I would know the rain had ended. Then, suddenly, I started hearing a different dripping sound that sounded like it was in the room with me. I turned on the big light and listened. The sound seemed to be coming from the fireplace.

I grabbed the flashlight I use to when the dogs go out and shined it at the fireplace. I was shocked to see a constant stream of water coming from the front of it. I quickly got a bucket from the garage and watched in horror as it slowly filled. I knew I could not go to bed until the rain stopped.

I looked on Weatherbug and saw that the rain should end at around 2:00 AM. I kept watching my K-drama while I waited. Once, I emptied the bucket when it was getting full. Finally, just as predicted, the rain stopped a little after 2:00. I let the dogs out for their run, gave them their bedtime treat, dumped the bucket one more time, and went up to bed.

I had no idea where or why the fireplace was leaking. I called Roland's Roofing because they are within walking distance of my house. In fact, I have walked past them for years when taking exercise walks. The man I spoke with said he could have someone at the house to check it out the next morning.

Someone came and looked at the situation, figured out the problem, and promised to send me an estimate for repairs. That was on Friday, so I knew I wouldn't hear from them until Monday, and it did arrive by email early Monday Morning. It had a contract with it that I could sign virtually and return.

A few minutes after I signed the contract, a lady from Roland's called and asked if she could send a repairman to do the fix the next morning. I was more than willing to clear my schedule- not knowing when we would get more rain.

I was really surprised and honored when Roland, the owner of the company, came with his roof man to personally check out the situation. He explained what would happen from start to finish before taking off. His roof man, Carlos, left to get supplies before getting to work on it.

After a few hours the repairs were made, and Carlos was gone. I got an invoice by email for the exact amount of the estimate. There were no additional costs for materials.

It rained today, and there is absolutely no indication that there is still a leak anywhere. Roland's Roofing fixed the problem completely, super quickly, and definitely inexpensively. I am proud to recommend any of their services. They are good people, and they do a good job.

  I have to admit, I was a little suspicious of this place.

Okay, dear reader, you need context. I was looking for a house to buy and I... read more really liked this one. But I couldn't commit. When I started asking questions about it, found out it needed roof work and the seller was going to get it done before closing any sale. So I kept driving by and looking at the house and I remember noticing a roofing company truck parked in the drive, but I didn't think anything of it. Next thing you know it, I'm buying the house and they are preparing to get the roof done by Roland's Roofing. Well come to find out that was the same truck in the drive. So needless to say I was concerned about a possible conflict of interest.

I'm any event, the company was really great. I asked the seller if I could make some decisions on the color and style since I'm going to have to live with it. Hear I am, with actual no ownership interest in the home and they were super helpful. I was sent options and colors and was able to upgrade for a nominal charge.

And despite some weather challenges (like a huge fall thunderstorm) they got the roof on right before I closed on the sale. And the roof is beautiful and will look even more spectacular once the house is painted.
